I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

For a while I had been doing primarily chin ups and alternating grip pull ups for a decent amount of reps but I havent done moderately wide grip pull ups with elbows flared out in a while until today....shit....that was hard as hell man. Barely got 4.
Why are you squatting in the curl rack?

I can do like 10 chins, maybe around...5 or 6 pull ups. And that last pull up is one sad looking event.

killerdude: you are a heavy dude! Changes to body weight lifts will have much more exaggerated effect to you than to say... me. I barely notice the difference between close or wide grip pullups, even when adding 10kg or so.

Yep. That'll do it. "Only" 4 is a great effort, all things considered.

I did it at the end of my workout. I was already tired. Next workout ill warm up thoroughly and do them first. I'll probably bang out much more...i hope. :)

Well you will, but altering the circumstances from one workout to the next doesn't constitute a fair basis for judgment of improvement. :P Your last lift, be them wide grip pullups or dragon flags, will still improve even though you are running on empty. Just keep the conditions the same every time so your progress is measurable, unless being stronger specifically at pullups is of particular importance/use to you? My pullups almost doubled in 4 months, and I only ever did the at the tail end of my workouts.

Do them at the end or your main lifts might get impacted !
After all, they are assisting exercises.

Just saying ;)

I noticed the exact same thing this morning. I can usually do 3 sets of 10-12 reps for chins but only managed 2 sets of 7 and 8 today on pullups (haven't done pullups in a long time mainly chinups for the last few months). I'm thinking with a little practice it should even itself out though.
