I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Interesting definitions of us serious weight trainees aka meatheads

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=meathead

How can we avoid being categorized as one?

Exercise your legs in some fashion other than the occasional leg press. And don't curl in the squat rack :D

Meh, people are going to think what they want to. I'm not sure how many of us fit into that category as you have to be pretty big before people really start thinking you're a meathead. By the time you get that big you probably don't care about what someone else thinks of your physique.

I'm not sure what I liked better, the first definition's misspelling of "hamster" or the third definition citing the tendency to stereotype (and wrongly at that) as an indicator of being a meathead.

i like the 3rd definition.

I wear sleeveless t-shirts, i lift weights and i drink water out of a gallon jug when i'm lifting in my garage. I never played football or wrestled but i do have short hair and i do drink protein shakes, however i do not shop at Hollister. i think i have a fairly high IQ being i made it through engineering school and the stereotype thing is just stupid. So by definition (atleast No.3) I am a meathead. Along with everyone else on this forum. i guess that is someones way of being insecure about someone else because they put in the time to train, eat right and sacrifice to be in better shape and better health. Kinda like a guy I work with. He "works out" every so often, but then calls me a meathead and gets pissed when i dont go to happy hour with him after work. I just tell him i have priorities and they dont involve him.

the hampster thing is funny. i didnt catch that the first time. good looking out muddy.

I agree. There's definitely a higher level of respect and intelligence on this forum in comparison to a lot of other weightlifting forums.
