I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Weight gainer instead of GOMAD?

Postby james07 on Mon Mar 23, 2009 9:31 am

I don't know your views on weight gainers but according to my math, the cost would be practically the same as buying gallons of whole milk every day, the carb/protein/fat gains would be as big (if not bigger). But more importantly, you could easily down the scoops in like 500ml of milk instead of having a gallon a day.

I am currently starting a weight gain diet (1m75, 61kg now) and seeking the best way to do that. But wat do u guys think of the above?

A weight gainer is not real food. Milk is.

I was bored so I ran some comparable numbers in my Food Calculator using Twinlab Mass Fuel ($17.00 per container) to compare daily usage at around a total of 2400 calories per day

Looks like Milk won handily, not too mention weight gain powder isn't exactly clean eating.

Ive used weight gainers twice and they really dont do much for you. They make you feel bloated, dont taste very good, and in general can be replaced by making your own drinks. Better off with whey and mixing in some peant butter/bananas etc.

You can find better ways to pack calories into your diet. Instead of making sandwiches with bread, use pop tarts. Instead of chewing gum, chew bacon. You could brush your teeth with milkshakes.

I think it's time to make a topic called "Alternatives to GOMAD", explain how there is no alternative to GOMAD and make it sticky.

YES! I knew someone had to pick up on my incredibly witty and relevant Simpsons reference.

Or you could brush your teeth with bacon. More kids would brush their teeth better if it was with bacon!

That's funny!

@Bramasole that's really cheap milk. Homo milk here in Canada costs around $5.7 USD per 3 L.
