Good News! People had been literally begging me for a Stronglifts 5x5 app to track your workouts with your iPhone/iPod... well it's finally here!
Check out the screenshots...

Screenshots of the soon to be released StrongLifts 5x5 Application to track your workouts with your iPhone/iPod
What The StrongLifts 5x5 Workout Tracker Does:
- App will tell you how much weight to lift each StrongLifts 5x5 Workout
- Easily record weight/set/reps achieved on StrongLifts 5x5
- Auto-deload if you hit a plateau on one of your lifts
- Keep track of bodyweight + dates of workout
- View history of past workouts
- Works in lb and kilograms
So you won't need to take pen and paper with you anymore to the gym... and the app will do most of the thinking for you so you can focus on the lifting. If you're an iPhone user: just make sure you use the airplane mode - this isn't an excuse to start picking up the phone when training (that's why I recommend the iPod).
This App Looks Amazing! But Much Will It Cost Mehdi?
It will cost nothing. The StrongLifts 5x5 Workout Tracker will be 100% free. Here's why: what you measure you can improve. I strongly believe that you'll get even better results with StrongLifts 5x5 if you track you workouts, and I want your success story because of the bragging rights. That's why the 5x5 report always came with spreadsheets. This app will just make tracking a lot easier so I believe it's essential part of StrongLifts 5x5.
Okay I'm Sold! Where Do I Download This Mehdi?
It's going to be available on iTunes very soon. The StrongLifts 5x5 app is made, I'm just waiting for Apple's approval and then we're good to go. So it should be available around Christmas time. I'll put a message here as soon as it's up so you can download it for free and start using it.
Talk soon,
"Santa" Mehdi
P.S. Regarding Android: after talking with an android developer about this, I decided to not pursue android at this moment and stick with iphone/ipod. Here's why: the Android platform is fragmented - different phones, different screen sizes, etc... and this makes it more complicated to support as a result.
My advice is to get an iPod Touch. It doesn't have phone features, so this way you don't get people texting/phoning you when you're in the gym, and you don't get distracted during your training.
This will be a great tool!!!!
Thanks
This brilliant can’t wait. I’ve trying your 5×5 programme and people are already noticing the results and I’m only two weeks in.
I would have paid for this app!
I can’t wait for it :)
Waiting for an Android version! :)
Great! I will be waiting for the Android version. Currently I keep the excel you provide as a Google Docs spreadsheet :)
Also great to see some activity in this site!
Kudos,
Álvaro
Will there be an Android App!?
Will you release for Android?..I’m sure many other SL users like myself have Droid phones.
Perfect way to track progress on this amazing venture to size and strength
7 weeks into this and loving it. Amusing to see ppl in gym coming over now to stop and count plates. Great workout, looking forward to the app.
The article says that the Andriod version will come soon after the iPhone version :)
I was actually part way through designing my own app, now I don’t have to bother. Well, unless Android takes significantly longer than iPhone.
So excited for this app! I currently use Gym Buddy, but the developer seems to have jumped ship and hasn’t updated in over a year. I love the 5×5 program and am currently 2 weeks in. I hope this app is well designed though, or at least designed well enough to get the job done!
P.s. please make a paid version that you have the option of purchasing. If the app and your workout helps get me to my goals, I would absolutely donate money to you. I’m sure many others feel the same!
FYI, Android is by far the larger market in smartphones. Android accounts for 46.3% of all U.S. smartphones, to iPhones 28.1%. Likely this is reflected across le monde.
But if you have an iPhone Medhi, then the Apple app is understandable.

Looking forward to the Android version.
This is the next logical progression for this outstanding workout program. Frankly I’m surprised it took this long…
Awesome! I just started the 5X5 program and I love it…the iphone app will be great! Thanks!
Nice, now I can track my progress on my iPhone 4.
By the way those Droid vs iPhone stats seem skewed. Although I don’t believe they are accurate, even if they were I see ALL iPhones and iPod’s at the gym…can’t remember ever seeing a Droid…probably a very good first move for the 5X5 debut…
I think an app for the 5×5 is a brilliant idea! I’ve been using the program to increase my strength and I’m very impressed with the results. Thanks d
Thats awesome! I’ve been doing SL5x5 for 12 weeks now still achieving gains. Bwahahaha! Mehdi you’re awesome!
Those stats James posted only compare phones. This app is not just going to work with iPhone but also iPod and *normally* iPad as well. StrongLIfts’ site analytics show there are lot more guys visiting this site with iphone/ipod/ipad than android. On top of that, the guys who approached me for this app only know IOS.
Don’t have an iphone or ipad myself, nor am I a mac user. Do have an ipod v3 but that’s it. Anyway, the Android app is coming, talking to a guy tomorrow about it actually. Will look into blackberry later.
Thank you Mehdi for all that you do! You are a gentlemen and a scholar. :)
LB
Oh my god. Give give give!
Thank you this will come in handy
What about Black Berry!!???
I’ll be waiting for sl 5×5 app to track my workouts that Williams be great
Thanks Mehdi! I have been doing Stronglifts for about 5 months now and I am amazed at how much stronger I am. I have been using an app called iFitness, which I actually really like, but I will certainly download and use he Stronglifts app as soon as it’s available.
Here’s a suggestion for a feature (and not having seen the app it may already do this): Tell you which configuration of plates to use for each weight. For example, if I need 300 pounds, then I need 255 pounds to go with the 45 pound bar, so that’s 127.5 per side, which is two 45′s, a 25, a 10 and a 2.5. Sometimes it gets confusing when trying to count out plates. One time I lost track and put an extra 20 pounds on for my bench press and almost decapitated myself!
Need android app asap! :)
Woohoo! I’ve tried cobbling so many different things to track this on my phone it’s ridiculous. I’m stoked you’re releasing this, and frankly, I would’ve gladly paid for it.
Great job! Look forward to using it.
65 YRS and in my 3RD week of S5x5 lifts – riding a bicycle 15 to 25 miles a day, and started you diet program today – results to this point are amazing.
Great! Will this app be adaptable to the Madcow and Advanced versions?
Awesome, I have been using the Jefit app for my Android phone, which I really like, but will definetly try this out when it is released for Android. Now, can we get some Stronglifts t-shirts!!!
That app sounds great . but don’t leave us boys with android phones out the picture
I hope this either:
a) works with the older generation ipods
b) is coming out for blackberry sometime! I would be willing to pay for it no doubt too!
Excellent! This is VERY exciting. As soon as the Android app comes out, I will be on it!
Cool. I was thinking about something like this just a few days ago wondering how cool it would be to have an easy way to track and adjust the workout schedules in the form of an app…and here it is!
Waiting for the Android version…
Thanks, Mehdi.
can’t wait for the Android version :D
starting 5×5 (3rd time) after the new year & looking forward to it.
keep up the great work :D
Awesome, I was going to suggest this and maybe try making it myself but it looks like I was beat to it haha
Hello,
I just started this program, and i am looking forward to this App..
Medhi you are the man :-)
This is the best addition to the program in a while, a much needed app for training.
Great work!!
I am so excited for the Android version.
Awesome! Can´t wait to use this on my phone! Been writing down my sets/reps at some “Write&Go” app until now, which has always felt kinda fuzzy.
Cheers!
HELL YES!MEHDI IS GOD!THIS MADE MY DAY!
What a tease! I read the title of the email and went strait to the app store. :(. Can’t wait for this though.
Will there come a app for Android too?
Android version please!
one word………ANDROID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can’t wait for the android version, keep it up!
Any chance of getting a version for us lowly blackberry users?
Thank you Mehdi. Auto-dead load… That’s great!
Awesome! I’ve been doing SL 5×5 for about 10 months, and I use a composition notebook to track my progress, but I’ve struggled with how to calculate my deloads. Can’t wait for the Android version! Please release it ASAP! :)
Awesome! I will download this on day one.
Re: number of Android phones in the world: Yes, there are more Android handsets in existence than iPhones, but iPhone users are significantly more likely to use their phone for web-browsing and apps.
I have a windows phone so….you should make an app for that somehow as well.
Have been looking for a good app to record my workouts for a while, this will be spot on for my 5×5 workouts. Will it just be specifically for 5×5 workouts or can you modify/create your own routines.
Bring on the andriod app. Asap.
Awesome! Does it calculate your warm-up sets too?
Please, please rush the Android version.
Santa is early this year!
I can`t wait! This will be a great tool :)
Looking forward to this app, have tried many tracking apps but yet to find a good one, big hoppes on this!!
Sounds fantastic, my only request would be to have a desktop version which could sync with the APP and a way of printing out your history.
Cheers
Paul
DROID!
Looks useful , can’t wait to download it and try it out !
+1 for android :-)
Would love to have it in my mobile.
Cant wait for this! One of my worst traits is forgetting to log my workouts and this will help no end.
Sounds like a winner Mehdi! Can you make sure you have this new email so I can continue to get your email updates. Thanks and Merry Christmas
Awesome, hopefully the Android version is released soon.
I’m 17 and I started lifting weights in the summer where i weighed 58kg, now i’m 61kg (at 5″9) so im quite skinny. It doesnt feel like i’ve made much gains.
Luckily I stumbled across this today, hopefully this will help me, I have a Bench and an Olympic bar (luckily my dad knows a bit about weightlifting) now all i need to do is convince him to buy a power rack. I may even try it with us two doing it together!
I also tried other weight logger apps but they are too fiddly, hopefully, as i expect to, it should be easy to use like the spreadsheet. Hopefully i get started on this soon!
Waiting for this a long time, kudos to the team. No more shitty excel sheet. Muahahaha
You are a great guy Medhi. I can really tell you love giving and making people happy.
I’ve tried using other apps for tracking 5×5 progress and they lacked a lot of necessities to make it convenient so I just went back to paper but the capabilities you mentioned makes this app sound perfect for what I was missing. Thanks Medhi.
Oh, the inhumanity of having to wait for apple to release!
Mehdi, your passion and devotion to your stronglifts program is truly inspiring, i cant thank you enough for everthing you have done!
